This CS Lewis quote says it all.

I can’t hear the song of a bird simply as a sound. It’s meaning or message – that’s a bird – comes with it inevitably… Just as one can’t see a word in print as a merely visual pattern. The reading is as involuntary is the seeing.

When the wind roars I don’t just hear the roar – I hear the wind. In the same way it is possible to read – as well as to have – a pleasure. Well- not even as well as. The distinction is to receive it and recognize it’s divine source as a single experience. This heavenly fruit is instantly redolent of the orchard where it grew. This sweet air whispers of the country from whence it blows. It is a message. We know we are being touched by a Finger of that Right Hand at which they are pleasures forever more! There need be no question of thanks or praise as a separate event, something done afterwards. To experience the tiny theophany is itself to adore.

A rescued sparrow. I can’t think of a better title for myself.

The House Sparrow is probably the most common bird on earth. Yet this is the bird Jesus chooses to let us know how very attentive our Father in Heaven is to His Creation- drawing our attention to His care for this little simple bird to highlight the focused and incredible love He has for each one of us.

I’m one of 7,530,103,737 people on the earth.  There are between 100 and 400 billion birds in the world.

This is why what Jesus said gives me such joy!

 ^“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”                                Matthew 10:29-31
